*A Bird in New Zealand*

I researched about Takahe. It is a very famous bird in New Zealand. It has some characteristics. First, it looks curious. It has a red pointed bill, blue and green feathers, two red legs, circular body, and sharp small eyes like a right picture. Its height is about 60cm and its weight is about 3kg. It is a big body for a bird.

Second, it cannot fly. It eats tussocks growing on the ground. There are many kinds of
birds which cannot fly in New Zealand. For example, Kiwi, Hoiho, Kakapo and Moa cannot fly. This reason is said that there were little Mammalian for many years ago in Nez Zealand, so the birds did not need to fly. In Japan, there are a few birds
which cannot fly, for example, it is an ostrich and a penguin in the zoo. Most birds can fly in Japan.

Finery, Takahe was said that it was an extinction bird already, because it was discovery it’s born but not alive Takahe. However, Geoffrey Orbell who was a doctor discovered Takahe on November 20, 1948. Now, there are about 160 Takahes in New Zealand.

I am a little scared Takahe, because it is big size and I am not good at a bird, but I want to watch just once. Takahe is decreasing now. I want not to extinct it. You should go to New Zealand and watch Takahe.
